West Mifflin

The West Mifflin community is not that big, and I would doubt that there will be much activity going on, however – there are routes starting in West Mifflin, and going to other locations of the county. While it may not make much sense, there will be service routes to connect with the communities that would be served by West Mifflin routes. West Mifflin will receive the designation of 54. The routes are as follows:

  • 54: CCAC – South
  • 541E: North Versailles
  • 542E: Mon Valley
  • 541S: Curry
  • 542S: Prospect
  • S54: Baldwin Manor Flyer

54: CCAC – South

The 54: CCAC – South will connect the South Campus of CCAC to Century Square. This will optimize the routes for the student vs anyone else. Since it is likely that the student will have a pass, it would just be a minor inconvenience to have to take a second bus. For those that don’t have passes, this route is $2.00.

541E: North Versailles

The 541E: North Versailles will replace the 55: Glassport. The reason this route was not named Glassport is because Glassport is not the destination, but just a small part of the journey. The end point is in North Versailles which will make more sense to name this route “North Versailles”. However, the route will still remain a carbon copy of the route the 541E: North Versailles will replace.

542E: Mon Valley

The 542E: Mon Valley will replace the 59: Mon Valley in every way, and provide a carbon copy of the route. While the designation number is not close, it is still important to keep the designation system for ACT.

541S: Curry

The 541S: Curry will replace the Y47: Curry Flyer. As you might have notice, this route is not a primary route. Instead, the other end of the route will be at the mouth of the South Busway. Riders will need to transfer, and board the S3: South Corridor. This is intended to reduce the number of routes that will have to go into Downtown. The S3: South Corridor will be almost as fast, and just as reliable, however the route will collect from multiple routes to get to Downtown.

542S: Prospect

The 542S: Prospect will replace the Y49: Prospect Flyer. As with the 541S: Curry, the end point will be at the mouth of the South Busway, and will use the S3: South Corridor to continue on to Downtown.

S54: Baldwin Manor Flyer

The S54: Baldwin Manor Flyer will replace the Y45: Baldwin Flyer, and will use rush hour service hours to operate. In turn, inbound stops on the South Corridor is depart only, and outbound stops on the South Corridor is pickup only. Unlike PRT?‘s scheduling policy, the S54: Baldwin Manor Flyer will be able to operate in both directions at both sets of time. This is to cater to those that may not have conventional hours of work/school, and might need the S54: Baldwin Manor Flyer to go home in the morning, or go to Downtown in the afternoon. By having both directions operating at both times, it would support this rationale.
